Think of SEO like a set of directions to help Google and the search engines understand your website and show it to the right people.
Don't panic – SEO doesn't have to be scary! This quick checklist will have your site ready to climb the Google rankings in no time.
Let’s first start with the checklist to guide you through the process.
1. Keyword Research
- [ ] Identify Primary Keywords: Choose keywords that your target audience is likely to search for.
- [ ] Use Tools: Use free tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest to find relevant keywords.
2. On-Page SEO
- [ ] Title Tags: Ensure each page has a unique and descriptive title tag containing the primary keyword.
- [ ] Meta Descriptions: Write compelling meta descriptions with keywords that accurately describe the content.
- [ ] Headings (H1, H2, H3): Use keywords in headings and subheadings to structure your content. **Only one H1 per page which is usually reserved for the page title
- [ ] URL Structure: Make URLs clear and concise, remove unnecessary and filler words
- [ ] Alt Text for Images: Add descriptive alt text to all images, incorporating relevant keywords but keep it geared to the image.
